Radiation Hazard by Cell Phones

There have been several studies on the effect of the radiations emitted by the cell phones on the human body. Whether these radiations cause brain cancer, dementia or have other side effects is not yet established. Some studies have revealed that there are long-term side effects of cell phone usage.

However, it is a fact that cell phones do emit radiation. It is also being thought that it should be made compulsory for all cell phones to display their radiation levels. US-based environmental group EWG has conducted a study based on SAR or Specific Absorption Rate. SAR according to the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association is “a way of measuring the quantity of radio frequency (RF) energy that is absorbed by the body.”

The list of phones with high levels of RF radiation, released by EWG includes some of the most popular smartphone models from companies like Apple, LG, HTC, Motorola, Blackberry and Samsung.

Dhoni Injured, Out of Action for Next 10 days of IPL

Chennai Super Kings’ skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is out of action for the next 10 days because of an elbow injury. He got injured during the IPL T 20 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens when he was hit by Shane Bond delivery.

Chennai Super Kings’ coach Stephen Fleming denied any major injury to the India skipper. Dhoni will not be able to play for next 10 days putting Chennai Super Kings’ Indian Premier League campaign in trouble.

A team management source said “Dhoni will be out of action for the next 10 days and the exact nature of his injury is being examined by the doctors at a private hospital here.He will be travelling with the team to Delhi. An official announcement will be made once the nature of the injury is determined by the doctors”.

It is expected however that Dhoni will accompany his team to Delhi, where Chennai Super Kings will take on Delhi Daredevils at Kotla on Friday.

In addition to the match against the Daredevils, Dhoni will not be able to play the matches against Kings XI Punjab (March 21), Royal Challengers Bangalore (March 23) and Mumbai Indians (March 25).
