Yesterday, Queen Elizabeth ll threw a dinner for the heads of states and the government of the Commonwealth States. Among the eminent personalities, President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Gordon Brown were among the ones who attended the dinner.
The dinner was thrown at the end of the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting in Trinidad and Tobago. The 53 states that are the members of the Commonwealth had come to meet and to come on a common consensus about the climate change, which the Queen stressed was a crucial and consistent problem. The heads of states were required to enter into an agreement, a “legally binding one”, that would deal with the tackling of the issue of climate change.
In the dinner, the Queen stressed that the threat of the climate change is not a new one. She further said that this issue will have long standing and far fetching consequences on the security and stability of the countries. She also pointed out that most of the countries that are under maximum threat are the ones that are least able to counter the effects of a climate change.
Copenhagen Launch Fund is being associatively generated to aid countries that need financial support to cope with the problem.
