Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, who recently caused outrage on his metaphor “cattle class” has even been encouraging other politicians to vouch for their beliefs and propaganda on Twitter! The networking platform would enunciate that Indian politicians could also be popular like celebrities world-wide and give a piece of their mind and gauge themselves on the international level.
Tharoor has said that he would like more Indians to use Twitter, and that this mode of self-advertising and interaction could increase the mass awareness and popularity of the elected-leaders who would tweet about their controversies, clarify their point of views, and give a first-hand knowledge about their work-life.
Tharoor said,“I would like to see more Indians using this very attractive interactive broadcast platform to get their thoughts out there.”
However the kind of raucous humor that he made use of in his rather literate standpoint, showing himself as a part and parcel of a condescended kindred, pointing to the majority of middle class Indian life, has obliterated his colleagues from using this handy tool. Tharoor demonstrated that it was quintessential to pontificate on political notions but via its weight age and cross-checks from an equally alert voter class, “a multilingual, pluralist democracy” like India.
