
A four year old boy of St.Paul expired recently, awaiting a “Berlin Heart”. Four year old Connor Turner was tormented with heart defects since his birth. A Berlin Heart is a new petite and compacted device which can alternate human heart by simulating the pumping action of heart allowing blood to pass through the entire body.
Connor had undergone 3 open heart big surgeries, even getting a pacemaker placed in his heart in this year itself. Connor’s plight was worse soon afterwards, as a heart attack aggravated his vulnerability. A heart transplant was not possible owing to his weakened condition. Doctors well settled on a heart transplant surgery which was an unavoidable0 resolution, that could guarantee for Connor a normal life in the possible future. Sadly, the plan never took shape. To make matters worse, Connor suffered a second heart attack and got pneumonia, which spelt out the challenge for the doctors.
Berlin Heart has been beneficial in sparing innumerable lives. When a donor is unavailable this device comes to rescue inevitably. Berlin Heart can act as an artificial heart and works well for kids as well. The miraculous device is named such, owing to its development at Berlin Centre in Germany.
