It was one of those rare moments when I was in need of wireless internet connection sans the modem and the dial-up mode. One of my friends came to my rescue and I was given a postpaid Vodafone wireless toggle, as they call it. All I had to do is to plug in the USB port of my laptop and get connected to the web pages.
My friend explained that it was easy to handle, portable and the connectivity, about which I am always worried about, is remarkable. A number of subscribers are actually using cellular networks for getting Internet connection wherever they want. The networks will help you not only to send but receive data through the networks. The best thing about mobile computing is that now you can be in a remote location and still have good connectivity for your laptops.
However as they say, that all good things have a flip side. At times, it has been noticed and complained by many of my friends that connectivity through this kind of network means insuffficient bandwidth and you will find it slower than direct cable connections. If you are dependant on public networks, you should be careful about the security of the site. Battery power is the sole sourec of energy. So you will need a good battery backup for mobile computing. The other problem that you might face is weather hazards. It becomes extremely difficult to get good connectivity in rough weather. Whatever be the problem, you will find this small toggle to be of great help when you need it the most….I beneffited from mobile computing, so will you..
